What are You Cooking for Labor Day

Share

The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market will be open from 9 to 1 on Saturday, September 5th, so you can pick up all of your favorite foods for cooking out this Labor Day Weekend.

Planning to use the grill this holiday? J.D. Beef offers hormone, antibiotic, and steroid free beef directly from their farm to your table. We encourage you to try their all natural, free range, angus beef – you’ll be impressed. You can also pick up Alaskan salmon or delicious scallops from All About U.S. – both are excellent choices for cooking out.

Looking for some famous wild caught shrimp? Visit Eddie at the Chesser Seafood Booth. Whether you boil it up for “peel and eat”, batter and deep fry it, or saute’ it in some fresh butter, this shrimp will have you showing up at the cookout with the most popular dish on the table.

Don’t overlook our farmers and their seasonal produce where you can toss up a delicious salad, serve a steaming hot bowl full of zucchini, squash, and onions, or grab a cabbage or fresh potatoes for some home made Cole slaw or ‘tator salad.

Need an appetizer? Try the spicy pimento cheese spread from Lulu’s at the Thompson House, Lizzie’s Southern Cheese Straws, artichoke salad fro Joy of Garlic, or the chopped olives from Jay’s Marketplace.

No matter what you decide, you can’t go wrong shopping at the farmers market for Labor Day, or any other holiday for that matter!

Music this week is by the Hambone Stumps Band.
