Welcome Autumn and her Seasonal Produce

Welcome Autumn and her Seasonal ProduceAutumn is a welcome relief from the summer heat at the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market on Amelia Island, Florida. As the weather changes, so does the local produce. Fall and winter bring back some of our favorite vegetables including beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chinese cabbage, collards, kohlrabi, lettuce, mustards, onions, parsley, peas, potatoes, radish, spinach, turnips and a few strawberry varieties according to the University of Florida IFAS (Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences) Extension.

Visiting your local farmers market you can expect to find these and many other delicious treats including prepared, frozen dinners made by My Personal Chef, and season packets in a wide variety of flavors from Dips2Go.

ARS Cake Creations bring a wonderful selection of homemade jams created to confuse your taste buds with both sweet and hot flavors combined in a single jar. Trying their samples is a “Must Do” on Saturday mornings.

Rudy, of Maria’s Bakery, is a staple on N. 7th Street and has a huge local following here in Fernandina Beach. Freshly baked breads include an assortment of pita breads, calzones, cookies, focaccia topped with jalapenos or black olives, and so much more.

Micah’s Place, Nassau County’s domestic abuse shelter, will be joining us at the Market Place to kick off October which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and just across Centre Street, the Seventh Street Gallery will be open during our market hours with a show featuring a delightful “Who’s Who” of local artists.

The downtown Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers’ market is open on Saturdays, year ’round, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. For more information please find us on facebook or call (904) 557-8229.
