Veterans Day in Fernandina Beach

Share

Veterans Day in historic Fernandina Beach will be the place to be with the farmers market and the arts market at North Seventh Street, a Veteran’s Day Parade winding through downtown, and the Petanque Tournament at the waterfront.

The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market is located on North Seventh Street and is a perfect place to watch the parade that will march up Centre Street at 11:00 a.m.

Some of your favorite vendors will be on hand for this family friendly day including Sugar Flour Pastries who will be serving their over-sized ice cream sandwiches in their popular Pumpkin Pie flavor, and this week they will have their “Classic” flavor, which is two chocolate shortbread cookies with a smooth vanilla ice cream center. The Lemon Sensations booth will be open with giant, 32 ounce cups of freshly squeezed lemonade, and Shai is back with Olive My Pickle offering the kids his popular “pickle on a stick”.

Victory Popcorn brings 50 of their over 300 unique flavors of popcorn each week and this week they are introducing “Salty Tuxedo”, a savory mix of white and dark chocolate drizzled over salted caramel popcorn. Catering by Liz Grenemyer’s Bottega booth will have their staples such as beef burgandy, beef lasagna and quinoa tabuli, in addition to their seasonal, weekly dishes.

We have plenty of returning vendors this week, too, such as Sarah Cohen, of Cohen Pecans, who is a seasonal vendor returning for the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of November and December.

Bi-weekly vendors joining us this Saturday include chopped olive salad from Jay’s Marketplace; home-baked and oversized muffins from The Muffin Lady; Oizeo and their Asian tapas; Me, Myself and Pies; and gluten-free biscuits and breads from Something Good.

This is the second Saturday of the month and that means the Fernandina Beach Arts Market will be open, too, in the Pineland Bank parking lot adjacent to the farmers market. This is a great time to get a jump-start on your Christmas shopping from local vendors like Mermaid’s Walk specialty jewelry, Stained Glass Creations with their military panels of stained glass, and Hopers Woodworking – Troy has beautiful wooden creations ranging from whimsical to tear jerking.

Nassau Emergency Management Services will be our Booth With a Cause, and our live entertainment will be an internationally acclaimed guitarist provided courtesy of the Petanque Amelia Open Tournament.

We hope you will join us in downtown Fernandina Beach, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where your well-behaved leashed pets are welcomed if they are frightened by the loud noises made by a community parade.
