Thanksgiving Shopping and Family FunHistoric Fernandina Beach is home to the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market and you have just one more opportunity to shop at this delightful open air market prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday! It doesn’t matter whether you are planning to cook the dinner this year, visiting relatives, or calling it in, the Market Place vendors can help make the holiday easier for you.

Check out Boatright Farms for garden-fresh green beans and squash for traditional casseroles. Do you have twice-baked sweet potatoes with browned butter and mini marshmallows on your menu? Or perhaps a sweet potato pie? Al and Anna will have plenty of sweet potatoes on hand for you, as well as succotash, peas, greens, onions and some late season corn.

You’ll find white potatoes for mashing, carrots for glazing, and plenty of Brussel sprouts and broccoli at Kings Kountry Produce’s extra large booth.

Come on down and pick up some dinner rolls from Maria’s Bakery, eggs from A Natural Springs Dairy, or some salmon and scallops from Upstream Seafood.

Chessers Seafood will sell out of their wild caught, local shrimp early, so if you want to sleep in on Saturday I’d suggest you pre-order by calling Debbie or Eddie Chesser at (904) 509-3337 or (904) 485-6853.

Me, Myself and Pies is once again offering their Pop-Up Pie Shop and Saturday will be your last day to pre-order your custom baked pecan, pumpkin, key lime, buttermilk, sweet potato, or apple pie. Their Pop-Up Pie Shop will be in town to deliver your pie, Monday – Wednesday of Thanksgiving week, for your convenience.

Perhaps you don’t feel like cooking this year and would rather have Thanksgiving catered? Bottega: Catering by Liz Grenemyer is happy to do the cooking. Their chive butter basted boneless turkey breast will serve 8 – 10 people, and you can add all of the sides like turkey gravy, cranberry relish, dressings, macaroni and cheese (made with three cheeses), pumpkin cheesecake, southern bourbon pecan pie and more. To pre-order, or if you have questions, simply call them at (904) 387-8483.

Monthly vendors Steephill Vermont Syrup and From Bluegrass to Sawgrass, with their delicious bourbon glazes pecans, are also returning this Saturday, and music this week will be the toe tapping, sing-a-long favorites performed by Bruce Beville and the Laid Back Band.

The Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce will be at the market to promote their ‘Give the Gift of Local’ campaign and Small Business Saturday! Both campaigns encourage shopping in our own community, keeping dollars local. Come by their booth for a canvas shopping bag and a chance to win fabulous prizes!

The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market is open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. Located on North Seventh Street, between Alachua and Centre Streets in Fernandina, this is a great place to bring your entire family – including your well-behaved, leashed pets.
