The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers’ market has a special morning lined up for you on August 9, 2014, including another new vendor and musical talent all the way from Toledo, Ohio.
New to the growing farmers market in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach is Fernandina Mulch and Stone who will be bringing a variety of landscape plants, annuals, and baskets including Meyers Lemon, Peach Tropic Beauty, White Grape, Persian Lime Dwarf, Variegated Ginger, Cat Palm, Red Congo Philodendron, Caladium, Shrimp Plants, Society Garlic, Rosemary, Pink Autumn Sage, Salvia, New Guinea Impatiens, Vinca hanging baskets, and Mexican Heather. They will also be bringing to the Market Place samples of mulch like Red Mulch, Cypress Mulch, Pine Fines, Pine Bark, and other decorative alternatives such as Pea gravel and River Rock.
A staple in the Market Place is Maria’s Bakery. Rudy has been bringing fresh baked breads and pastries to the farmers’ market for almost 11 years. Just walking past his booth you’ll find the delightful aromas of multi-grain, whole wheat, cinnamon raisin, and sourdough. His jalapeno cheese, pumpernickel, heavy grain, rye and Italian Chibatta breads leave you pondering which flavor to try first. These sliced and artisan breads are made with no oil, no sugar, no dairy and no preservatives. If those aren’t tempting enough, you will fall in love with the focaccia breads. A flat, oven baked bread similar to pizza dough in texture and style, these round loaves are available jalapeno and cheese, black olive, and asiago garlic and rosemary. Rudy said his most popular item is a spinach and feta mix wrapped in filo dough, and his fresh apple and cinnamon strudels are favored, too. Rudy also brings cream filled cannolis, cookies, muffins, and flavored pound cakes.
We have a special musical guest from Toledo, Ohio joining us at the farmers’ market.
Jeff Tucker plays a nice, family-friendly mix of adult rock, Americana, variety, soft rock, cover and original music. He spent a Saturday morning back in February performing at the Market Place while he was in town to play one of our local resort properties and we are thrilled to have him return!

Historic Fernandina is becoming known for having one of the region’s most popular farmers’ markets with over 30 stalls of seasonal produce, fresh baked breads, natural bath products, honey, cheeses, dips, jams and jellies, smoothies, flowers, succulents and more, and you are invited to join us as we are open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Our market is located on N. 7th Street, between Centre and Alachua Streets on Amelia Island, Florida. Bring your family, your neighbors, your friends and even your well behaved, leashed pets. August 9th is the second Saturday of the month, so that means the Arts Market located adjacent to the farmers’ market will be open, too.
