The farmers market in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach will be open December 10, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine.
As the holidays leave many of us running short on time, the farmers market is a great place for quick and healthy, meals or snacks. Whether you are looking for a quick pastry like you’ll find at Maria’s Bakery or Nana Teresa’s Bake Shop, or a prepared gourmet dish you’ll find at Bottega by Liz Grenamyer, you’ll find something convenient at the farmers market to set on your family’s table.
African Love Kitchen offers ready to eat Tanzanian dishes such as sambusa, curry chicken, and piri piri wraps, and Sunshine Grindz offers delicious tuna or Mayport shrimp poke, a healthy alternative to fast food. Or perhaps a tasty quiche from Me, Myself and Pies will get you and your family warmed up and out the door on a chilly December morning?
Kings Kountry Produce offers ready-to-eat nutritious snacks, too, like carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, blackberries, apples and citrus.
Another convenient and healthy snack are the shelled pecans from returning vendor Sarah Cohen of Cohen Pecans, whose final visit for the season is December 17th. Another seasonal vendor attending this Saturday is the Steephill Vermont Syrup Company. They will be here Saturday and are accepting holiday orders for both hard and soft maple candy for delivery December 17 – 21st.
December 10th is also the Best Decorated Holiday Booth Contest at the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market. Vendors will display their best holiday decorations in hopes of winning a free booth rental, and customers are the judges, so be sure to stop by the management booth to place your vote.
Music will be provided by the crowd pleasing Laid Back Band, and of course your well-behaved leashed pets are always welcome.
