Pasta, Baked Pastries and Body Products Featured at Farmers MarketThe Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers’ market will be open on April 4, 2014. Located on North Seventh Street, between Alachua and Centre Streets, this open air market is held under the canopy of water oaks and cypress trees, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Favorite vendors attending this Saturday include Harlow’s All Natural Products. Jake and Sarah Harlow live in Fernandina Beach and the make vegan and all natural home and personal care products. Using essential oils, butters, oils, salts, sugars, waxes, and other fine ingredients, each batch is handcrafted. Products include deodorant, liquid and bar soaps, lip and body balms, scrubs, sprays, tartlets and more.

Amelia Pasta is another popular vendor in the Market Place. Peter is a life long foodie, and a culinary grad who was trained in New York City restaurants. He is passionate about good food and his gourmet artisan pasta is hand made with fresh vegetables, herbs and milled spices. The pasta is made is small batches and then air dried the traditional way to bring you an all natural pasta of unparalleled quality and flavor. There are no artificial flabors, dyes or preservatives.

A staple in the Market Place is Maria’s Bakery. Rudy brings fresh baked breads and pastries to Fernandina Beach every Saturday morning. The delightful aromas of fresh multi-grain, whole wheat, cinnamon raisin, and sourdough is nothing short of sensational. His jalapeno cheese, pumpernickel, heavy grain, rye and Italian Chibatta breads make it difficult to choose a favorite. Maria’s sliced and artisan breads are made with no oil, no sugar, no dairy and no preservatives. One of my favorites is their focaccia breads. A flat, oven baked bread similar to pizza dough in texture and style, these round loaves are available jalapeno and cheese, black olive, and asiago garlic and rosemary. One of the most popular items found at the vendor’s booth is a spinach and feta mixture wrapped in filo dough, and he almost always sells out of fresh apple and cinnamon strudels. Rudy also brings cream filled cannolis, cookies, muffins, and flavored pound cakes.

These are just three of the nearly 30 vendors you will find this week at the farmers’ market in downtown Fernandina Beach.

While we say we are open every Saturday of the year, rain or shine, we do make one exception. We will NOT be open on May 2, 2015 due to the Isle of Eight Flag’s Shrimp Festival.
