With temperatures expected to be in the mid 60s, the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market on January 17, 2015, is going to be an absolutely delightful day to visit downtown, historic Fernandina Beach.
New vendors this week include local shrimp, kettle korn, and organic elixirs. Nancy MacNamara is a bio-dynamic/organic farmer in organic products including Chai Mate Tea, a sweet and spicy blend of cinnamon and citrus.
King’s Kountry Produce has Romanesco broccoli, their early crops of Brussel sprouts, and cheddar cauliflowers. Jane’s Kitchen offers homemade dill, hot and sweet, and sweet and sour pickles, as well as relish, chow chow, pickled okra, beets, corn relish and jams. Jams include strawberry, fig, pineapple, apple pie, banana, and of course Georgia Peach!
Bakery Ribault has been bringing cinnamon roll croussants, and sour dough bread. The fermentation process in making sour dough breaks down the gluten and phytates, making his white, whole wheat, and semolina with sunflower seeds breads a healthy choice to satisfy any craving. New to Bakery Ribault booth at the farmers market are peach, raspberry and blueberry tarts.
Boatright’s Family Farm has plenty of seasonal produce including turnips, beans, cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes and a wide variety of prepared, frozen beans.
If your prefer to grow your own, visit Seven Trees booth for potted kale and other winter vegetable and herb plants.
Music this week will be performed by local musicians The Hambone Stumps Band featuring Joel Vendetti. Bring your lawn chairs, your appetite and your well-behaved leashed pets for a family-friendly morning of fellowship, food and fun!
The Market Place farmers market is located on North Seventh Street, and is open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine.
