National Farmers Market Week
National Farmers Market Week 2023, endorsed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and orchestrated by the Farmers Market Coalition, pays homage to the indispensable role of farmers markets. They’re the heart of local food systems and nurturing communities. For half a century, these markets have shaped how we eat, connect, and grow.
Since its inception in September 2012, Fernandina Beach Market Place boasts over 50 vendors showcasing an array of products. Vendors have seasonal produce, succulent shrimp, dips, sauces, snacks, meats, eggs, desserts, baked goods, plants, and more. This year, the market opens its arms to local non-profits and downtown businesses, uniting the community through shared endeavors. As a beacon of resilience, the farmers market upheld its spirit during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We innovated a temporary drive-thru setup to ensure farmers and shoppers thrived, displaying how we adapt to continue our own mission.
Stay tuned for a whirlwind of activities to come this fall including Hispanic Heritage Month, the Right Whale Festival, and meaningful collaborations with local non-profits await. We’re here to inspire change, one vibrant market day at a time.
Join us every Saturday, rain or shine, at Fernandina Beach Market Place. Catch the Fernandina Beach Arts Market on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, and don’t miss the Wildlight Market Place in Yulee on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays. Leashed pets are welcome, and we’re thrilled to welcome local charities, downtown businesses, and musicians to our bustling atmosphere.
