Do you have your holiday menu ready? The farmers market on North Seventh Street in historic Fernandina Beach is a great place to find delicious entertainment options that will impress your family, friends and guests this Christmas season.
Start by welcoming your guests with trays of appetizers like a spicy pimento cheese spread, Lizzie’s Cheese Straws, or pepper jellies over cheese and crackers. Looking for something to really represent Fernandina Beach? Consider fresh, local shrimp from Chesser Seafood as an appetizer. Served as a traditional peel-and-eat, or as an adult “welcome” cocktail, you cannot go wrong selecting these tasty, sweet shrimp for your table. The shrimp sell out every single week, so please call Eddie or Debbie at (904) 509-3337 to pre-order.
Salads options are abundant with fresh lettuces, kale and salad mixes from Cabbage Creek and Bacon’s Select Produce. Make your own salad bar with a variety of optional vegetables from Kings Kountry Produce or Boatright Farms like yellow and red onions, carrots, cucumbers, red and green peppers, plump tomatoes, radish and more! Joy of Garlic now offers sugar free salad dressings, too!
Comfort your guests with homemade soups that are easy to make from plentiful fall vegetables such as potato, mixed vegetable or squash, and main dishes are easy with crab cakes from Lulu’s at the Thompson House, Wild Alaskan Salmon from All About U.S., or hormone and antibiotic-free beef from J.D. Beef.
Hand crafted artisan breads and sweet treats are easy to find at booths by Nana Teresa’s Bake Shop, Maria’s Bakery and Russian breads by Alex at Bakery Ribault. Gluten free? Stop by Something Good, all of Dee’s products are gluten-free.
Me, Myself and Pies are once again offering their Holiday Pop Up Pie Shop on December 23rd and 24th. Simply order your pies on or before December 19th and you can pick up your order between 5 and 7:00 PM near the Christmas Tree lot on the corner of Lime and 14th Streets on Amelia Island. Call John or Carol at (904) 757-2227 for more information.
Making their first appearance at the farmers market is Juan Tucker’s Topsy Toffee. This homemade specialty toffee is made from his mother’s recipe in small batches to keep the integrity of freshness. Sounds great as a stocking stuffer, too!
Music this week is provided by the lovely and talented Jennifer Burns, and as always, your well-behaved, leashed pets are always welcome!
The Fernandina Beach Market Place and the Fernandina Beach Arts Market will be open every Saturday in December, rain or shine, from 9:00 to 1:00.
