Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators, and Halloween will all be celebrated at the farmers market on North Seventh Street in Fernandina Beach on October 31, 2015. Each year the Ga/Fl Weekend brings the Best Decorated Booth Contest to the Fernandina Beach Market Place. This is where customers vote for their favorite booth decorations. The winning exhibitor receives a free booth space for the week!
Once again Memorial United Methodist and the First Presbyterian Church are joining forces to present a Fall Festival from 10:00 to 1:00 on North Sixth Street, so look for lots of little witches and goblins trick-or-treating in the farmers market.
Island Juice and Java will be serving up pumpkin latte, homemade ginger ale, locally roasted coffee, and new this month is their strawberry lemonade. Our produce vendors are starting to harvest the cooler weather vegetables such as radish, turnips and baby greens from Cabbage Creek Farms, and Boatright Farms is bringing winter greens and pecans. Bacon’s Select Produce has plenty of arugula, and red or green butterhead, and King’s Kountry produce has squash, sweet pie pumpkins, and a limited crop of strawberries.
Robert, with Everblooming Gardens, has been bringing a wide variety of landscaping plants that are perfect to spruce up your yard before the arrival of holiday guests, and Seven Trees Nursery is bringing their popular, but seasonal, holiday cactus plants.
Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Nassau Center will be joining us at the market this Saturday, too. Did you know you can earn your degree or certificate without leaving Nassau County?
Located in Yulee, this state-of-the-art facility offers the general education courses needed to earn an associate in arts degree, which will easily transition to one of the 13 bachelor’s degrees, or to transfer to a state university under Florida’s admission guarantee. You can access over 150 high-quality, relevant programs. Learn more at their booth on Saturday.
Entertainment this week will be provided by the Laid Back Band.
The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market is open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, every Saturday, rain or shine. With nearly 40 vendors there truly is something for everyone. Bring a blanket and the family and join us on the lawn for a morning of fellowship and people watching; your well-behaved, leashed pets are welcomed, too.
