Fun With Food and Cars

It’s Amelia Concours Week, so if you want to avoid all of the congestion on the south end of Amelia Island, head downtown on Saturday, March 9th, and enjoy both the Fernandina Beach Arts Market and the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market. Between the two, you will find nearly 70 tents with arts, crafts, woodwork, seasonal produce, Vietnamese egg rolls, fresh baked breads, tasty pies, and so much more.

While you won’t find a Corvette Sting Ray or a Plymouth Barracuda at the farmers market, we do have seafood. Eddie and Debbie Chesser, of Chesser Seafood, will have their wild caught white shrimp as well as the Atlantic Ocean royal reds this Saturday. They will likely sell out with so many people in town, so be sure to order yours ahead of time by calling (904) 509-3337 or (904) 485-6853. We also have Upstream Seafood; they will be bringing halibut, scallops and Alaskan Salmon.

We have other items similar to cars, too. While we don’t have the Nissan Honey Bee or the AMC Hornet, we do have local honey. Boatright Farms brings a nice supply of frozen field peas, lima beans, and “Pinto” beans, and the Spice Pantry offer a wide variety of flavored salts where you may find “Cayenne” or “Sage”. Stop by Chaunie’s Coffee for a nice cup of “Cappuccino.”

In the Arts Market you will find beautiful, handmade knives and sheaths by J. Thompson Knives. He does a lot of custom work, and these boning, fillet, and hunting knives are works of art, but you won’t find the “Rapier” or “Cutlass.” Reverse Glass by Gail is a huge assortment of handpainted glasses that come in a variety of styles and purposes, you will find the ideal glass. We also have a vendor who customizes tumblers, perfect for your car’s drink holder.

If you find yourself spending too much time with your car, we have a brand new vendor that will surely keep you out of the doghouse. Let’s show a big Fernandina Beach welcome to Wish Flower Farms. This company is located on Amelia Island, and they offer sustainably grown flowers and greenery. Please stop by their booth this Saturday morning and check out their professionally arranged bouquets that come in several sizes and color themes.

Both markets will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine, and your well-behaved, short-leashed pets are welcomed to join you.

We invite you to come out and enjoy the music of Bruce Beville and Laid back while exploring the friendliest farmers market in the “Galaxie.”
