The Fernandina Beach Market Place Mid-Week Market is now open EVERY Wednesday to help bridge the food access gap caused by local grocery store renovations. Publix and Winn Dixie have both closed their island doors for remodeling. Publix is slated to re-open September 2026, and Winn Dixie will reopen as a smaller, Aldi, and it was still not listed on the Aldi website as of January 9, 2026.
The Fernandina Beach Market Place Mid-Week Market will operate every Wednesday from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Eight Flags Shopping Center, at the corner of S. 14th and Lime Streets, on Amelia Island.
Organized by the same team operating the original three Market Place family of markets, the new market will focus on fresh food items like local beef, pork, and chicken; wild-caught shrimp and fish; organic produce; seasonal produce, freshly baked breads; cheese, sauces, dips, sweets, and a variety of prepared meals. There will also be artists, crafters, food trucks and more!
The mid-week market is being introduced to offer fresh food options in the city limits. While Harris Teeter continues to serve residents on the southern end of Amelia Island, smaller, local stores such as Nassau Health Foods, La Surena, the small produce stand on S. 14th Street, and a couple other retailers that carry catered meals, along with our Mid-week Market Place, will help YOU put healthy, local, and seasonally fresh foods on your family table. None of these smaller options alone can carry the full weight of the needs of our entire city population, but when we all work together… we CAN take care of our friends, family and neighbors. Shopping local has never been so important.
The market is actively seeking food vendors, especially local food producers like farmers, ranchers, and fisherman. Food trucks and ready-to-eat vendors are welcome to apply.
