Winter at the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market has seen our two newest vendors, The Pierogi Hut and Chesser Seafood, sell completely out of product on their first Saturday with us on North Seventh Street.
The Pierogi Hut has a variety pierogi fillings including potato and cheese, mushroom and onion, cabbage and pork, farmer cheese, and more. Owner Cori Fulton would be happy to set your favorite pierogis aside, simply call her ahead of time at (843) 298-0032. Chesser Seafood will take your orders over the phone, too, to be certain you don’t leave the Market Place without some of their tasty shrimp. This Saturday brings a new pie vendor to the farmers market. Me, Myself and Pies offer savory and sweet pies in three different sizes and will only use the finest and freshest local ingredients in all of their quiche, pot pies and dessert pies. And of course, they have a very, very flaky crust.
These exciting new vendors are a great addition to your favorite fresh baked pastry vendors and your favorite farmers. This time of the year you will find that Cabbage Creek Farm has beets, radish, carrots, turnips, salad mix, kale, Swiss chard and lots of greens.
Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Vidalia onions will all be on display at Al and Anna Boatright’s table. It is also bean season with Boatright Farms and they have done all of the work in preparing frozen packages of creamed corn, black eyed peas with snap beans, green butter, speckled, Lima, zipper and whole acre beans.
Local restaurants can be found in our farmers market, too, including Jack and Diane’s who has amazing grits, and their gumbo and vegetable soups are perfect to warm you on a chilly Florida day.
The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 to 1:00 PM. Located on North Seventh Street, between Centre and ALachua Streets, this week’s musical entertainment will be provided by the lovely and talented Jennifer Burns. This is a family friendly market and we have nearly 40 food vendors and your well-behaved, leashed pets are always welcome.
