Featuring Farms and Chefs for Restaurant Week 2013

cabbage-creekWow! This week’s farmers market is shaping up to be one incredible morning!

The Fernandina Beach Market Place is featuring Cabbage Creek Farm on January 12, 1013. The farm is located in Northwest Nassau County between Cabbage Creek and the St. Mary’s River.

Ava Ferguson and Nakoa Cooley have done an admirable job creating Cabbage Creek Farm. This small, sustainable farm shows care for the land by following the principals of organic farming. Every Saturday they share their tasty and healthy, locally grown produce at the historic, downtown Fernandina Beach farmers’ market. They are proof that it is possible to enjoy a responsible way of farming while making a living without using synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. We invite you to come meet the farmers, discuss what is in season and learn more about serving foods on your own table, that are grown by your neighbors.

It appears this week the Fernandina Beach Market Place is home to a couple of local celebrities as well. Two of our exhibitors, Lulu’s at the Thompson House and Merge, are participating in Amelia Island Restaurant Week. While you are at the farmers market, be sure to visit Melanie and Adam to learn more about this fixed price, fine dining opportunity.

Also this week, Rudy returns with Maria’s Bakery and Peter is bringing even more fresh Florida shrimp, because he keeps selling out! Angie joins us once again with Naturally Yourz granola and this time she is bringing the “bar”… select your favorite granola and then add two additional “sides” of your choice including banana chips, dried cranberries, raisins, roasted pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pecans and more!

It appears the weather will be clear with temperatures in the low to mid 70s; this is shaping up to be a January day to brag about to your friends up North! We hope to see you Saturday!

Located on N. 7th Street, between Centre and Alachua Streets, the Fernandina Beach Market Place is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. For more information call (904) 557-8229.
