Farmers markets are an important link between cities and farmland and they are seeing a continual rise in popularity. Consumers are looking for fresh and healthy options to put on their family’s tables and farm fresh products fill that desire.
The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market gives consumers and farmers the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with each other. Meeting face to face, week after week, creates a sense of trust in their food and a loyal customer base for the vendors; something you won’t find often in a traditional grocery store.
Small farms do not have the resources for large marketing budgets so participating in a farmers’ market is a natural fit. Direct marketing by our farmers, ranchers, bakers, chefs, growers and creative producers eliminate the added expenses of mass transportation and distribution on the local level, this means customers generally save money when they shop at a local farmers market.
The farmers market in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach, the Fernandina Beach Market Place, is open rain or shine, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, every Saturday of the year (except for Saturday of the Shrimp Festival.)
Join us on April 19th as local farmers Cabbage Creek, Bacon’s Select, Boatright Farms and Kings Kountry Produce unveil their fresh seasonal produce. Blue Moon Creamery, Natural Springs Dairy and JD Beef will show off their goat cheese, traditional cheese and grass-fed, grass or grain finished cuts of beef.
Cross Creek Honey will be here each week with a variety of honeys found along the St. Johns Water Management District, and the gentlemen from Maria’s Bakery, the Great Harvest Bread Company and Alex’s Russian Bakery get up early in the morning to bring you bread so fresh it is often still warm from the oven.
Natural soaps, jellies, jams, pastries, smoothies, coffee, jerky, sauces, spices and more can be found each week in this charming farmers market.
