2015-best-decorated-booth-fall-300It is Georgia vs Florida Weekend and in Fernandina Beach that means the downtown farmers market is holding one of their popular “Best Decorated Booth” contests.

Vendors will participate by decorating their booth space in Georgia, Florida, or Halloween gear and customers are encouraged to cast their ballot for their favorite! The winning vendor receives one free booth rental. The Ballot Box will be located at the Market Place management tent.

Another great reason to attend the farmers market October 29th, is the return of Steephill Designs, a Vermont Maple Syrup company. This will be Steephill’s first visit in the farmers’ market of the season, so be sure to replenish your stock from their Grad A Fancy, Medium Amber, Dark Amber, Grade B Dark, and fresh maple creme syrups. Just in time for Halloween, check out their traditional soft or hard maple syrup candies.

Also returning is local restaurant, The Patio Place. Bringing fresh crepes to the streets of Fernandina with a variety of fillings, what could be sweeter? Perhaps the bourbon glazed, sugar flavored pecans from one of our newest vendors From Bluegrass to Sawgrass? Sample them both and you be the judge. Jaxma Orchid will return this week with a beautiful variety of blooming orchids.

We are thrilled to have one of Fernandina’s favorite musicians, Backtrack’s Larry LeMeir, filling the air at the farmers market this Saturday.

If these are not enough reasons to spook you out of the house on a Saturday morning, consider dressing up the kids for the Annual Community Fall Festival, just one street over from the farmers market, on North Sixth Street, being held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Market Place in Fernandina Beach is located on North Seventh Street, between Centre and Alachua Streets. Home to over 40 grower and producer vendors and exhibitors, the farmers market is open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., year ’round, rain or shine.
