The Fernandina Beach Arts Market is back Saturday, January 9, adjacent to the farmers market on North Seventh Street in historic downtown.
Here are a few of my favorite tips to help you enjoy both markets.
-The Arts Market is only open on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
-Both markets are open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and are busiest from 10 to noon.
-Shop early for the biggest selections.
To avoid crowds, shop between 9 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., or between noon and 1:00 p.m.
-Bring your own shopping bags: one for wet or frozen items and another for dry goods.
-Dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes, after all, this is an outdoor experience.
-The markets are a great attraction for out of town company and visitors.
-Farmers, ranchers, artists, producers… they all love to talk about what the sell. Ask lots of questions. Where else can you so easily talk with the owner of a company?
-Most vendors accept credit cards, but always bring small denominations of bills when you shop at community markets. Vendors carry a limited amount of cash.
-Return your reusable containers to the booth, many give discounts or a refill price.
-The Arts Market and the farmers market are pet friendly. Animals must be leashed and well-behaved. Please do not let them urinate on booths or signage.
-Musicians are working for tips only, please be kind.
-Produce is seasonal, look to try new foods year ’round.
-While the public is not currently required to wear masks outdoors, please continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Remember, both markets are open rain or shine!
