Highlighting Two of Your Vendors

August 17 Fernandina Farmers MarketEach week the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers’ market offers dozens of delightful vendors offering their local, organic or natural specialties and this week we would like to bring your attention to two of our vendors who are at the farmers place week after week.

The first is local bakery Great Harvest. Located near CVS, at the corner of 14th Street and Sadler Road, this family owned business offers amazing breads and sandwiches seven days a week. But, every Saturday you will find Dirk and one of his daughters serving up sweet and healthy deliciousness. New additions to their Market Place offerings include Dakota Rye Bread. This is a whole wheat and rye bread that is loaded with pumpkin, sunflower, millet, sesame and caraway seeds. Other tasty breads they have introduced at the market is their mushroom and Swiss bread, sweetened with honey; and their new Popeye Bread that is loaded with spinach, honey, parmesan cheese, roasted red peppers, garlic and onions. Yes, Great Harvest is not just for breakfast anymore!

Another weekly exhibitor is Tressa with A Natural Wave soaps. She offers natural soaps and dead seas salt soaps. Tressa has recently moved and is running a sale to make more room for the upcoming holiday products and gift sets, so she will be selling selected soaps for $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. Her felted soaps are only $5.00 each and her liquid soaps will be $1.00 off. This sale will continue through September, while supplies last.

We invite you to come introduce yourself to Dirk or Tressa, or any of our other market’s vendors you will find at Florida’s friendliest farmers market.

Our featured non-profit this week will be the Ben Byrns Foundation. The Byrns family created the Ben Byrns Foundation after the loss of their son, Ben. The Foundation hosts a 5K run at the airport to raise funds to support their mission to strive to educate and guide young adults to make good decisions in their lives. This year’s race is scheduled for Saturday, September 14, 2013, and proceeds will benefit both the Boys and Girls Club and the Nassau Humane Society. Representatives will be at the market to help you register for the 5K and to answer questions you may have about the Foundation. Saturday’s music will be performed by Larry Lemeir.

We are open each and every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM on N. 7th Street on Amelia Island. Well behaved pets are welcome, too.
