Farmers Market Continues to Grow

Cinnamon Apples in FernandinaOur market is a true farmers’ market located on N. 7th Street, in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach… and this Saturday we are ready to welcome both Georgia and Florida fans to Amelia Island.

Our open air market is a local’s favorite and offers unique gifts like candles made with a little help from the honey bees, hanging baskets of succulents and hand crafted soaps and salt scrubs. You’ll find tempting treats suitable for any table like farmstead cheeses, fresh winter greens, seedless cucumbers, and grass fed and grass finished beef. Some items you’ll find are so delicious they won’t even make it past the car ride home like fresh whipped smoothies, Wook’s beef jerky, Short and Sweet’s 50 calorie cupcakes, pumpkin pie bars from Great Harvest Bread Company, or a crunchy dill pickle on a stick.

This friendly market is open on Saturday mornings, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm, with nearly 40 vendors offering the traditional farmers market fare such as fresh baked breads, local honey, seasonal produce, delicious jams, pickles and jellies, as well as meat, dairy and seafood.

We have a few new vendors at the Market Place including Rosa’s Brazillian Treats. Rosa and her young son tempt you with sweet desserts and a pumpkin corn bread that is truly amazing!

Barbara Martin makes delicious Cinnamon Apples using only Fugi apples, poached, then preserved in a jar with a lip-smacking, secret cinnamon recipe blend.

Our featured musician this week is Bruce Beville and the Laid Back Band. The blood bus from the Georgia Florida Blood Alliance will be on-site to collect any blood those Halloween vampires may have left behind, and our non-profit booth will be St. Michael’s Academy. They will be sharing news of their upcoming fund raiser, a Wine and craft beer tasting event complete with silent auction, dancing, live music, raffle prizes and a seated, 3 course dinner created by nationally renowned Chef Daven Wardynski, who has a passion for creating dishes with fresh, local ingredients.

If you haven’t been to the farmers market in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach, you should. We are open each and every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM on N. 7th Street on Amelia Island. Well behaved pets are welcome, too.
