Farmers Market Continues to Add New Products

The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market, and the Fernandina Beach Arts Market will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on North Seventh Street in historic, Fernandina Beach, February 25th. Both markets are open rain or shine.

In the farmers market you will find true growers and producers who specialize in a wide variety of foods, soaps, candles, and plants. Long time weekly vendor, Olive My Pickle, has added several new products including fermented okra, fermented green beans and fermented garden kimchi, plus two new salsas. Their news salsas are made with ground, fermented vegetables. One is corn based and the other is a salsa Verde. They are also bottling their fermented brine as an elixir. Nassau County farm, Cabbage Creek, is in full winter season bringing a variety of cold weather greens and root vegetables. Lizzie’s Cheese Straws returns this week with her famous cheese flavored crackers that are now available in white cheddar and rosemary, parmesan cheddar with oregano and sun dried tomato, and cheddar habanero that has the additional fiery flavor of crushed red pepper.

The Arts Market will have over 20 vendors displaying arts, crafts, fine jewelry, apparel, woodworking and more in the lot adjacent to the farmers market. Quality vendors include Mermaid’s Walk Jewelry, Joel Vendetti’s Tie Dye Threads, Reverse Glass by Gail, and Sonia Cardoos with her whimsical scarves, cork accessories, and fun magnets with be exhibiting their wares.

Music is provided by the talented Alain LeLait, and Tobacco Free Florida is our Booth with a Cause. Despite a decrease in the number of smokers in recent years, nearly 19,000 kids (under age 18) in Florida become new cigarette smokers each year. Tobacco Free Florida along with Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) are committed to reducing youth smoking and tobacco use and will be onsite to provide more information.
