Fernandina Farmers Market PeachesLooking to try some of our locals’ favorite items at the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market? Every Saturday vendors line N. 7th Street, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach. Booth after booth of tasty or natural products are on display tempting you with the very best of home-grown, home made, and often organic samples.

Locals shop regularly at the market and quite a few items are showing up as stand-out favorites. Two vendors we’d like to tell you more about this week include local restaurant Lulu’s, and Island Juice and Java.

Melanie represents Lulu’s and she brings a pimento cheese spread that is delicious, but my favorite Lulu’s delicacy is their spicy crab cakes made with lump and jumbo crab meat. You will find very little filler in these hearty cakes, but lots of crab meat. Their recipe is a secret, but feel free to ask Melanie for her fabulous cooking tips when you visit the Market Place! Lulu’s at the Thompson House is located on S. 7th Street and every dish is created using only the freshest, finest ingredients. They are open for lunch or dinner and serve Sunday brunch from 10:30 until 3:00 PM.

Another favorite consumed during the market are the smoothies made by Lucy and Tom at Island Juice and Java. Vincent Mango is a delicious blend of mango, pineapple, banana, and guava juice blended with a splash of orange juice and all natural vanilla yogurt. Strawberry Fields is just like Vincent Mango, but substitute fresh, local strawberries for the mango. Tom and Lucy select local fruits from our own Market Place vendors such as the lemons they buy from Kings Kountry Produce, also found at the farmers’ market on Saturday mornings, to make their thirst quenching, fresh squeezed lemonade.

Relay for Life will be our featured non-profit booth answering your questions about their upcoming events!

We are open each and every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM on N. 7th Street on Amelia Island. Well behaved pets are welcome, too.
